What We Insure
Bass boats, pontoons, fishing boats, ski boats, and sailboats. Coverage for the boat, motor, and trailer, plus liability on the water.
Personal watercraft are fast and easy to damage. Coverage for physical damage, theft, and injuries to riders or other boaters.
Street bikes, cruisers, touring bikes, and scooters. Tennessee-required liability, plus coverage for your bike, gear, and custom parts.
Four-wheelers, side-by-sides, and dirt bikes. Coverage on the trail, at the hunting lease, or in the back field, not just at home.
Neighborhood golf carts and street-legal low-speed vehicles. Required coverage for LSVs on public roads, and protection for carts off your property.
Utility, cargo, and equipment trailers. Your auto policy may extend liability while towing, but generally won't pay for damage to the trailer itself. That coverage is added separately.

What's Covered
Pays for injuries and property damage you cause to others while riding, boating, or driving. The most important coverage, and required for motorcycles and LSVs on Tennessee roads.
Covers damage to your boat or vehicle from an accident, theft, fire, vandalism, storms, or falling objects. Ask about agreed value coverage for newer or high-value units.
Protects you if you're hurt by someone who has no insurance or not enough of it. Especially important for motorcycle riders.
Helps pay medical bills for you and your passengers after an accident, regardless of who was at fault.
Covers towing, fuel delivery, and jump starts on the road or on the lake, so a breakdown doesn't ruin the day.
Covers fishing equipment, trolling motors, electronics, helmets, riding gear, and aftermarket parts that standard coverage may not fully include.
Mind the Gaps
Auto policies don't cover boats, ATVs, or golf carts. Homeowners policies may cover a small boat or golf cart at home with low limits, but rarely cover theft, damage, or liability out on the lake or trail. A separate policy for each toy, or one policy that covers several, closes those gaps. Ask about bundling with your auto and home policies for potential multi-policy savings.
FAQ
Tennessee does not legally require boat insurance, but many marinas and lenders do. Even when it isn't required, liability coverage is strongly recommended. Injuries and property damage from a boating accident can be expensive, and you could be personally responsible.
It depends on the boat's value, type, length, and horsepower, plus your boating experience and where you keep it. Insurance for smaller boats can cost a few hundred dollars a year, depending on the boat, location, and coverage. Larger or high-performance boats typically cost more. The best way to know is to compare quotes. We shop several carriers to find your best rate.
Yes. Motorcycles driven on public roads in Tennessee must meet the same minimum liability requirements as cars: $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for injuries, and $25,000 for property damage. Tennessee also allows a few approved alternatives to insurance for proving financial responsibility, but most riders carry a policy. Many choose higher limits plus physical damage coverage for their bike.
Tennessee doesn't generally require insurance for ATVs used only off-road on private land, but a lender or riding area may require it, and different rules apply if you're allowed to ride on public roads. Either way, it's a smart idea. Homeowners policies usually provide little or no coverage once an ATV leaves your property, and they may exclude off-road vehicles entirely. An ATV policy covers theft, damage, and liability wherever you ride.
If it's a low-speed vehicle or street-legal golf cart driven on public roads in Tennessee, yes. It must be titled, registered, and insured just like a car. A standard golf cart that isn't street-legal usually isn't covered by your auto policy, and homeowners coverage typically ends once it leaves your property.
Usually not, or only in very limited ways. Auto policies don't cover boats, ATVs, or golf carts. Some homeowners policies cover small boats or golf carts on your property with low limits, but rarely cover liability away from home. A separate policy closes those gaps, and it's often less expensive than people expect.
